Jason Quan McWilliams Arrested In Killings Of Rapper Doe B. And Kimberle Johnson

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A man has been arrested on two capital murder charges in the fatal shooting of rapper Doe B. and a woman at an Alabama bar, police said Monday.

Jason Quan McWilliams, 25, of Montgomery, surrendered to police the Sunday evening and is being held without bond, police have said. Jail records show McWilliams faces two counts of capital murder, but records don’t indicate whether he has an attorney.

City officials closed the Centennial Bar and Grill after the 22-year-old rapper, whose real name is Glenn Thomas, and 22-year-old Kimberle Johnson, a Troy University student, were fatally shot early Saturday. Six others were also injured.

A police statement said the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving the rapper.

One of the victims, Clarence Young, 20, was one of about 100 people who attended a candlelight vigil in front of the shuttered business on Sunday afternoon. Young was wounded in his right shoulder and said he was at the club for a friend’s birthday party, and knew Johnson from high school.

“It sounded like it was from just one gun,” he told the Montgomery Advertiser (http://on.mgmadv.com/1hQQ3gn). “There were a lot of people in the club. I heard the first couple of shots and felt the blow.”

Deneka Bullock and Lea Epps, both 21 and from Montgomery, planned the vigil and used the gathering to call for community members to address gun violence.

“It’s time for us as a society, we have to stop leaving it to our elders to want change, we have to want it for ourselves,” The Montgomery Advertiser quoted Epps as saying. “We have to stop putting down our books and picking up guns. We are losing a lot of young people, very young. And I think that it’s time that we just stop the violence now.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has made quite a name for himself in hip-hop over the past decade by achieving more than most rappers in his position have done. But there’s one hurdle he’s yet to traverse, and he hopes to do so pretty soon — working with Leonardo DiCaprio!

According to HipHopDX, Jackson went on Rachael Ray’s morning show to discuss some upcoming projects, and he sang the praises of “The Great Gatsby” actor. “I got a call from De Niro,” he said. “I’ve seen him in a lot of movies but he’s like the guy from Goodfellas, ‘Paulie,’ he’s like, ‘Eh, this project, I think should do it.’ I’m like, ‘You think? Okay.’ Yeah. [A collaboration wish list?] I have one. Leonardo DiCaprio, yeah. He don’t miss, he don’t miss. And I just saw his new project, Wolf of Wall Street, a private screening, it was [fantastic]. He was in there with me. Yeah, I was like, ‘This is really, this is cool.’ Yeah, like, you’re going to come watch it with me. It was an exciting night. I’m on his fan list right now. There were a few people there that I had worked with in the past. Terrence Winters, he actually wrote The Wolf of Wall Street, he wrote Get Rich or Die Tryin’ for me. Yeah, it was a good room. If you’re in a room and you’re the hottest person in the room, you know you’re in the wrong room.”

And, according to SOHH.com, Jackson also touched on his upcoming New Year’s Eve plans…if any. “On New Years? I’m not sure,” he said. “I’m trying to put it together now. Hopefully somebody will be paying me to do something. [Kissing on New Years Eve?] I want to have multiple kisses.”

Family buys Beats by Dre headphones at Walmart, but finds cans of tuna instead

Odd News

Family buys Beats by Dre headphones at Walmart, but finds cans of tuna instead

Carmen Lopez, 14, of Bothell, Washington opened her biggest Christmas present last and was happy when it appeared to be the Beats by Dre headphones she asked her parents for. However her excitement was dashed when she opened the sealed box and discovered the case was filled with four cans of Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light tuna.

Four cans of tuna were in the Beats by Dre headphone case. (KCPQ)

Carmen’s father, Steve Lopez, ordered the headphones online during Walmart’s Black Friday sale. Steve spoke to KCPQ Q13 Fox News and said, “This is what I picked up here and it was wrapped in plastic. So I thought they were legit.” But when the family went to a local Walmart store they were offered an upsetting resolution.

Carmen Lopez (KCPQ)

Carmen told the station, “Wal-Mart had said they would only give us a refund, at least the store did which didn’t sound right, because I just really want my headphones at this point. Because I was really looking forward to them.” The refund actually wouldn’t even cover the current cost of the headphones at Walmart, since they were discounted when originally purchased. The Lopez’s reached out to the Walmart corporate office and are waiting to hear back.

To add insult to injury, the Lopez family refrains from eating tuna because their youngest daughter is allergic.

In a fortunate turn of events, Lindsay Merkle, the global account manager of sales for Beats by Dre, caught the Q13 story. She was in the area visiting her family and said, “Last night my father and I were watching the news and saw the unfortunate gift fiasco…So we said, ‘OK, let’s solve this problem today.’”

Lindsay Merkle (KCPQ)

Lindsay was traveling with some of her company’s new headphones and generously offered to give a pair to Carmen. Arrangements are being made to get the headphones to the teen, and Lindsay has said if she can’t get them to Carmen while she’s in town, her mom will help deliver them. The thoughtful executive said, “I can only imagine what was going through her head. So hopefully this will help her be a little bit happier and get something that she was actually looking forward to on Christmas.”

Python strangles man to death at Bali luxury hotel

Associated Press

A python strangled a security guard near a luxury hotel on Indonesia’s resort island of Bali on Friday, and then escaped into nearby bushes following the deadly attack, police and a hotel employee who witnessed the incident said.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. as the 15-foot-long python was slithering across a road near the Bali Hyatt hotel, said Agung Bawa, an assistant security manager at the hotel, which is closed for renovations until 2015.

The victim, Ambar Arianto Mulyo, was a 59-year-old security guard at a nearby restaurant.

He had offered to help capture the snake, which had apparently been spotted several times before near the hotel, located in Bali’s Sanur area, Bawa said.

Mulyo managed to secure the snake’s head and tail and put it on his shoulders, but the python wrapped itself around his body and strangled him, said Bawa, who was present during the attack.

People watching the incident were unable or unwilling to help and called the police, who came but failed to save the man. The python escaped into nearby bushes, and police were still searching for it.

Denpasar police Capt. Gusti Ngurah Yudistira said Mulyo died of suffocation.

“It happened so fast,” Bawa said. “We were sad because we could not do anything to help him.”

Yudistira warned people to be alert since the snake was still on the loose in the area, which is popular with tourists.

Deadly attacks on adult humans by pythons are rare, but have been documented before
